| The 2026 National Pool and SERC (Simulated Emergency Response competition) Lifesaving Championships were held in Limerick on 14–15 February, bringing together Youth, Masters and Open competitors from across the country.Across the weekend, the best lifesavers in the country showcased outstanding skill, speed, agility, teamwork and accuracy in a wide range of pool and surf disciplines. A particular highlight was the SERC, where teams of four were challenged to demonstrate tactical awareness and composure under intense time pressure. Performance levels were exceptionally high, with a provisional 11 Masters records broken* over the two days, reflecting continued progression within the sport. Importantly, the Youth and Open categories also delivered performances of outstanding quality, underlining the strength of the development pathway and senior competition alike. Looking ahead, preparations are underway for next month’s Nipper Regional Pool Lifesaving Championships. Nippers will compete within their regions to showcase developing lifesaving skills and, in the 12–14 age category, to qualify for the National Championships in April.
